Survey Reveals Rising Prices, Food Security, and Loneliness as Top Concerns of Filipino Millennials

Manila, Philippines – March 10, 2025 – A new survey conducted by Arkipelago Analytics has identified the rising cost of living, food security, and loneliness as the most pressing concerns among Filipino millennials. The nationwide study found that 85 percent of respondents consider inflation and high commodity prices as the country’s most urgent issue, with this number rising to 91 percent in the National Capital Region (NCR).

Food security follows closely, with 80 percent of respondents citing it as a critical issue. Loneliness ranks third, with 72 percent identifying it as a major concern, highlighting the increasing need for mental health and social well-being initiatives. Poverty, unemployment, and traffic are also top concerns, with each issue cited by 70 percent of millennials. Education and the overall economic situation both register at 67 percent, reinforcing the need for long-term economic and social reforms. Crime ranks next, with 62 percent of respondents emphasizing the need for safety and security measures. Health and social security follow at 55 percent, while concerns about the environment and climate change are cited by 52 and 50 percent of respondents, respectively.

Beyond economic concerns, the survey reveals a growing focus on public safety. Sixty-two percent of millennials believe that crime prevention and security should be a government priority, a figure 10 percent higher than that of other age groups. This finding underscores the demand for stronger measures to ensure public safety.
The results suggest that millennials expect the government to prioritize economic relief, food security, public safety, and social well-being.
“Our data clearly shows that economic concerns dominate the priorities of Filipino millennials, but there’s also a strong demand for mental health support, crime prevention, and improved social infrastructure,” said Anna Mae Yu Lamentillo, Chief Impact Officer at Arkipelago Analytics.. “Understanding these priorities is essential in crafting policies that address the real needs of this generation.”
The survey was conducted nationwide with 402 respondents and has a margin of error of 5 percent.
